Electronic Storefronts offers custom Intranets and Extranets to create efficiency and improve functionality for your company.

An Intranet is a private network that allows people to access shared information via an internal private website. Intranet allows for the storage and retrieval of internal information, by only the people on your network. You could use intranets to store competitor data, contracts, financial reports, client files, employee handbooks, vacation schedules, project logs, and management forms. Intranets allow you to update information in one place, rather than multiple places through out your conventional filing systems. They also ensure that everyone has access to the same information, and that the information is as up-to-date and comprehensive as possible.

An Extranet is simply an Intranet that can be access from the outside world. You decide which select members of the outside world, such as customers, clients, vendors, members, suppliers, and staff can access your extranet. Since an Extranet is a protected portion of a public Internet site, it is a great way for a company to control the distribution of materials, documents and other content that is reserved for a targeted group of users. For example, customers of a steel distributor may need to access their inventory lists with detailed specifications, but access by just anyone could compromise the company's position with its competitors. A protected area of the website, accessible to only registered users, is a very cost-effective way to solve this problem. Typically, extranets are kept secure by passwords and encryption.
